If you are a newly qualified Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer who is looking to develop your knowledge, confidence and skills and teaching and performing free weight exercise techniques, this programme is definitely suited to you. Ultimate Resistance Training is a 2-day intensive practical training course which will develop your ability to perform and teach a wide range of advanced resistance training techniques, with a considerable emphasis on free weight training.

Course Content

Not only will you learn how to adapt and progress a wide range of free weight exercises, you will also discover how to safely and effectively teach these techniques to your clients with confidence. This programme has been specifically designed to com

This 2-day practical training course includes a wide-range of resistance training exercise techniques and variations, including: 

  • 16 different standing barbell exercises
  • 10 different seated / lying barbell exercises
  • 17 different standing dumbbell exercises
  • 14 different seated / lying dumbbell exercises
  • 20 different cable exercises
  • 15 different stability ball and medicine ball exercises
  • An introduction to Olympic lifting

In addition to the above practical content, the course also includes:

  • Principles of resistance training
  • Benefits of resistance training
  • Components and principles of fitness
  • Optimal resistance training guidelines

Assessment Method

Throughout your course you will be continually assessed by your course tutor/assessor on your ability to teach a wide range of resistance training techniques.

More specifically, you will need to teach:

  • 3 standing barbell exercises
  • 3 seated/lying barbell exercises
  • 3 standing dumbbell exercises
  • 3 seated/lying dumbbell exercises
  • 3 cable exercises
  • 3 medicine ball/stability ball exercises 

While the exercises delivered in your assessment are selected by you, they will need to be considerably different from each other and be selected from the range of techniques taught to you within the practical workshops.

 

Support

During the training course delivery, you will participate in tutor led practical and theory workshops where you will learn how to safely and effectively perform and teach a wide range of free weight and body weight exercises.

Should you require additional support and guidance, our team of tutors will be there to provide as much support and guidance as you need.

Pre-Requisites

If you wish to attend this training course you must be in possession of a recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification.

This may include:

• Level 2 Gym Instructor
• Level 2 Exercise to Music
• Level 2 Circuit Training
