Level 2 Aqua Instructor

If you are you are a Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer who wants to teach water-based exercise, this qualification will teach you all you need to know in this area. Sometimes referred to as simply 'aqua', water-based exercise is both enjoyable and challenging. Once you enrol on your aqua course, you will learn a wide range of skills and techniques about designing and implementing safe and effective exercise sessions in water, the difference between water-based exercise and land-based exercise and how to use the water to get the most out of your exercise group.

Course Content and Qualification

During your aqua training course, you will learn a wide range of aqua aerobics knowledge and skills, including:

• Health and safety for aqua/water-based exercise
• Cardiovascular training and exercises in water
• Flexibility training and exercises in water
• Muscular strength and endurance (MSE) training and exercises in water
• Principles and benefits of aqua/water-based exercise
• How to design safe and effective aqua exercise sessions
• How to use the water to make your aqua classes and sessions more enjoyable and effective
• How to instruct, encourage and motivate groups of exercisers with aqua/water-based exercise
• How to use music effectively in aqua/water-based exercise sessions

Qualification: Central YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction (Water-Based Exercise)

Assessment Method

Prior to attending your training course you will be required to complete a small range of 'mini multi-choice' assessment in our online-learning system.

These assessments make sure that you are ready for your practical training dates.

During your training course you will also be required to complete a small range of worksheets and complete a plan for an aqua exercise session.

On the final day of your aqua course, you will be required to conduct a practical assessment where you will need to teach your planned water-based exercise session to your fellow students.

Pre-Requisites

There are no formal pre-requisites for this qualification however......

we do recommend that you already have a recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification and experience of participating in aqua or water-based exercise sessions.

If you do not have the Fitness Instructor qualification, you will need to complete the Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health module in addition to the above assessments which will increase the cost of the course by a further £75.00.

REPs and QCF Information

This qualification is worth 20 points with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and is worth 24 credits in the QCF.
