Level 2 Exercise to Music Instructor

This is the entry level qualification for anyone wishing to pursue a career as an Exercise to Music or Group Exercise Instructor. The course is delivered using a blended learning approach, this simply means that you will complete some distance learning in our secure online system before you attend your 4 day Exercise to Music training course which is split over 2-weekends.

Course Content and Qualification

The Level 2 Exercise to Music Course includes:

  • Bones and joints
  • Components of fitness and principles of training
  • Muscles and muscle actions
  • Cardio-respiratory system
  • Health screening
  • Planning exercise programmes
  • Health, safety and professionalism
  • Customer service
  • Promoting physical activity
  • Planning exercise to music sessions
  • Group instructor skills
  • Choreography techniques and variations
  • Muscular strength and endurance techniques

Qualification: Central YMCA Level 2 Certificate in Exercise to Music Instruction.

Assessment Method

You will be required to complete a practical group exercise to music session lasting 45-60 minutes.

This assessment is observed directly by an assessor and will take place on the last day of the course attendance dates. 

You will also be assessed via a multiple choice theory assessments which will take place on the last weekend of the course. These assessments will focus on:

•Anatomy and Physiology
•Components and principles of fitness

Before attending your Exercise to Music instructor course, you will also be required to complete 2 written worksheets in the areas of:

•Health, safety and welfare in exercise and fitness
•Supporting clients partaking in physical activity

All students on the 'Exercise to Music Award' will be required to bring 2 healthy participants for the practical assessment day (day 4). These people will participate in the practical assessment as class members.

As a student of Innervate Training you will have your own personal tutor helping you with your coursework and any other questions you may have.

Pre-requisites

You will need experience of exercise to music classes and be over the age of 16 to sit the practical assessment.
