The CYQ Level 2 Gym Instructor Certificate is the entry level qualification for anyone wishing to obtain employment as a gym-based fitness instructor and is sufficient to gain entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals at level 2. This course is delivered using a blended learning approach which means you complete a period of distance learning in our online learning area followed by a short and intensive Gym Instructor training course which is split over 2 weekends.

Prior to attending your gym instructor course you will be required to complete some multiple choice tests designed to prepare you for your course.

You will also be assessed via a multiple choice theory assessments which will take place on the last weekend of the course. These assessments will focus on:
In the final assessments you will be assessed teaching a variety of gym-based exercises to a fellow student. This assessment will last approximately 60 minutes and will be observed directly by 1 of our assessors.
Prior to teaching this session you will also be required to produce a lesson plan.
As a student of Innervate Training you will have your own personal tutor helping you throughout the duration of your studies.
You will have regular contact with your tutor and you may contact them at anytime- we really are with every step of the way!
The online learning system you will use throughout your gym instructor course will provide you with instant feedback on your progress. You will also have access to the community learning forum where you can interact with fellow students and the 'Learner Support Tutors'. When you post a question within the forum, we will endeavour to reply within 24 hours.
There are no formal pre-requisites for this qualification however you will need some experience of using a gym.
You will also need to be over 16 in order to complete the practical assessment.
This qualification is worth 20 points with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)
