Requirements of an Exercise to Music Instructor:
The specific qualification requirements will vary significantly depending on the type of classes you wish to teach. Many of the more popular branded exercise class programmes like Body Pump™, Spinning™ and RPM™, require you to attend a dedicated training course with the licensed training provider. You are also likely to have to pay annual license fees, purchase specific music tracks and attend regular training workshops in order to continue teaching such programmes. These training courses are not nationally recognised qualifications and are only valid to teach that specific training programme.
In almost all cases, to be able to deliver any group exercise class, you will need a ‘Level 2 Exercise to Music Instructor’ qualification or greater.
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) has been set up to help safeguard the interests of people who are using the services of fitness instructors. Fitness Instructors are required to demonstrate their commitment to ‘Continued Professional Development’ by completing regular and recognised training. A failure to do so will result in an exclusion from the Register. All of the training courses provided by Innervate Training are approved by REPs.
