Qualification: CYQ Level 3 Assessing in the Active Leisure Sector

Pre-requisites

As a minimum you will need a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction and considerable experience in the area you wish to assess.

As an assessor it is essential that you have a detailed and comprehensive understanding of the area you wish to assess. If for example you are a qualified Gym Instructor at level 2 and have no qualification or experience in Exercise to Music, you would not be permitted to assess Exercise to Music candidates.

It is generally considered as good practice for all assessors to posses a qualification higher than the standard they are assessing to. In some circumstances, especially when the assessor has a great deal of industry experience, this requirement can be reviewed.

If you are unsure whether your current qualification and experience are sufficient, please feel free to contact us to discuss this issue in more detail.

Support

As a student of Innervate Training you will get a great deal of support and guidance throughout the delivery of this programme.

During your initial 2 day training course you will get the opportunity to discuss with you course tutor on a 1 to 1 basis your progress and any other areas you need additional support.

You will also get the opportunity to shadow some of our more experienced 'fitness assessors' prior to conducting an assessment yourself so you can learn from the best. We will then entrust you to conduct a supervised assessment on 1 of our learners and provide you with detailed feedback on your performance.

Assessment Method

During the delivery of your training course you will be required to participate in a range of group activities and assessment workshops.

You will also be required to complete a range of written and practical assessments including:

  • The completion of an assessment plan between you and your candidate
  • Observation of your assessing performance
  • Self evaluation of your assessing performance
  • Quality assurance procedures worksheet

All of the above evidence will then need to be presented into a portfolio of evdence and 'internally verified' before you can be certificated.
